Milan 2015: Blues Foundation Hue: Blue is the key colour throughout Milan this year, overtaking the past preference for grey. Predominant hues are turquoise, mid-blue and cobalt, seen across flooring, tabletop and lighting, while grainy pale blue textiles serve as a new neutral for upholstery. White Pairings: White is blue’s most common colour pairing for textiles and wall coverings. Irregular stripes and graphic patterning keeps this combination fresh. Blue Ink: Inky blues feel rich and luxurious on chairs and sofas upholstered with soft nap velvet, suede and complex jacquard wovens. Tactility is important for ink and cobalt blue, particularly for tabletop products such as Dutch designer Mae Englegeer’s ceramic tableware, which is contrasted with a smooth white finish on the outside and a blue, painted, grainy texture within. Mid-Blue Accent: Mid-blue is used as an accenting colour detail for wooden furniture, such as table legs and the tops of side tables. Highly polished clear glass with mid-blue tints is found in pendant lighting and decorative accessories
