Milan 2015: Glass Remoulding Glass: A plethora of techniques and colorations are applied to glass. Acid-etched or frosted ‘sheet glass’ remains popular for furniture, but we also see colourful solid cast pieces. Also emerging are subtle coloured stripes and opaque ombre effects, particularly for lighting. Nendo: The Japanese design studio is a definite Stylus favourite in Milan. Its extensive exhibition included many different variations of glass furniture and product, from different coloured glass layered together, to transparent and coloured glass being pieced together, all forming unique and refreshing interpretations of this material. Textures & Facets: Cutting techniques and angular facets are important, forming clever optical effects. Meanwhile, pressed and moulded glass is seen in fine stripes or grids on opaline lighting. On other lighting, clear glass shades are ridged or heavily textured to diffuse light with added effect
