Milan 2015: Stone Marble Reinterpreted: Throughout the shows, marble still dominates as the opulent material of choice, updated for the season in unusual coloured qualities. Marble and stone also appear lighter, with very thin panels used for seating, tabletops and shelving storage. It is also paired with other materials, topped with neon yellow glass or combined with bright coloured detailing to update this classic material. CNC & Complex Techniques: We are seeing new forms emerge for stone thanks to CNC techniques. Thinner and more decorative offerings form fluid and organic designs, from intricate layered panels through to deep ridges – all of which soften or lighten the appearance of stone. Composite Stone: Composite stone, including sophisticated terrazzo-style qualities with glass chips, is a decorative alternative to marble. Reinterpreting composite stone, London-based designer Philippe Malouinworked for Italian brand Caesarstone on a range of planters using different cutting techniques. The use of vintage Caesarstone gives the planters a crafted feel.
