Sympatex Phaseable Textile

Waterproof and windproof breathable 2.5-layer laminate which exhibits dynamic heat insulation. Three-dimensional ‘printed’ foam dots on the inner surface of the laminate create space between the skin and the textile at regular intervals, the spacing between the foam dots creating air chambers which insulate the wearer during periods of low physical activity or during recovery. During periods of high physical activity the membrane (onto which the foam dots are printed) expands into the spaces between the 3D foam dots causing the textile to get closer to the skin thus reducing heat insulation, and increasing perspiration removal and breathability by way of the hydrophilic membrane. The hydrophilic membrane allows moisture in the form of vapor to escape through its ‘pores’ but does not allow water droplets to enter. The textile is abrasion resistant, and while as thin as a 2-layer laminate, offers the stability of a 3-layer laminate. The textile consists of an outer layer composed of 100% recycled polyester (PES), a breathable membrane composed of 100% PES onto which the foam dots are ‘printed’ in a 100% solvent free process. The textile can be processed with conventional cut and sew techniques. The textile is available as a rolled good in a standard width of 1.4 m (55 in). A heavier weight and more durable 3 layer laminate is available. The color of the outer later as well as the pattern and color of the foam dots can be customized. The hydrophilic membrane is 100% recyclable, bluesign® certified, received the Öko-Tex-Standard 100 certificate, and is PTFE-free and PFC-free. Applications include functional materials for clothing, footwear, accessories and other technical fields of application.
