Food Coatings Targeting athletes and the ageing population, Fortified Food Coatings is an innovative new concept created in the Netherlands in collaboration with Dutch gelatine manufacturer Rousselot and nutrition company DSM. The company fortifies its range of ready meals with a gelatine-based spray coating that is enriched with collagen peptides (to support muscle recovery and improve bone strength), calcium (strengthens the immune defence system and maintains strong teeth and bones) and vitamin D3 (promotes calcium absorption). Meals are simply sprayed with the flavourless fortified coating, which melts into the food when cooked in the microwave. This provides vitamin-enriched meals for those who might miss out on consuming their recommended intake.
