Natural Fibers
– Wood-Based
— Cork Fabric Composite

A composite mesh that is comprised of perforated natural cork backed with a stainless steel fabric for use as a flexible design surface. The composite material provides the greater abrasion resistance of a metal mesh but with the aesthetic appeal of cork fabric. Cork is cultivated from the cork oak tree native to Europe and North Africa. The bark of the cork tree yields a considerable thickness that is harvested every 9 -12 years to produce cork. No trees are cut down during the harvesting process; it is a renewable resource as the bark is extracted and a new layer of cork regrows. The mesh is available in rolls 4.6 ft (1400 mm) wide in continuous lengths. It is available in a natural ‘cork’ color; the mesh is a silvery color that is the inherent color of stainless steel. The mesh can be folded, cut and stitched with care. Applications include shoes, apparel, accessories, wallcoverings and upholstery.
