Ekoa Pre-Pregs

High-performance prepreg that contains flax fibers and resin for a total of 75% bio-based content. The ratio of fabric to resin can be varied to achieve the desired performance properties. 50% of the resin comes from a bio-based industrial waste stream and the remaining half is high-grade conventional epoxy. This material has high strength to weight ratio, vibration dampening and is stable in various weather conditions. It has acoustic properties similar to that of wood. The prepregs can be processed using common techniques such as compression molding, bladder molding, autoclave, resin transfer molding (RTM) and infusion. The thickness of the material ranges from 0.05 to 0.6 mm (0.001 to 0.02 in) per ply. The prepregs are available for different systems including bi-axial flax fabric (0°/90°, satin weave construction) and unidirectional flax fabric (0° construction). The material has warm natural colors and organic patterns. Customization of prepregs is possible. Applications include use in transportation, sports equipment, musical instruments, furniture and consumer electronics.
