Bio-Plastics
– Plant-Based
— 50% Rapeseed Oil-derived

Thermoplastic co-polyester elastomer that uses rapidly renewable resources as part of its raw materials. Rapeseed oil, a non-food harvested resource widely available in areas such as Europe, China, Canada and India is used as a substitute for up to 50% of the petrochemical oil feedstock. The resin combines the processing characteristics of thermoplastics with the performance of rubbers. It is available in a hardness range from 40 – 70 Shore D, has good UV resistance, is stain and abrasion resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures -45 up to 150°C (-49 to 302°F). This elastomer can be pigmented any color. The surface of the molded resin has a soft touch, and it can be 2-part molded with a variety of other materials. Life cycle analysis of the product compared to standard co-polyesters shows up to a 50% reduction in GWP (global warming potential). Applications include automotive interiors and exteriors, sports equipment, consumer electronics, furniture and alternative energy applications.
