LA Textile Show

Remodeled California Market Center hosts in person trade shows again.

The new CMC is totally different than 2 years ago.  In that time the new design has opened up the lobby to the public with airy open spaces, a large patio with tables and umbrellas.  However all the restrooms are now on the second level and not accessible to the general public which proves to be problematic in bringing students to see CMC.  The food court is not yet open but hopefully will be by Fall.

The show itself is much smaller than 3 years ago.  With new ownership of the Mart and these shows, there is much less public access.  For the LA TEXTILE show there is no longer any lobby fabric/vendor sample display.  Peclars continues to do their 4 trend display on the show floor but it is disappointing in its limited scope with no labelling of the vendors on the samples.

The area for seminars is now only blocked on by a divider and the noise from the show floor is distracting.  I attended a very interesting panel discussion. The image below shows the range of the US Apparel Market.

LA Textile’s trade event – GLOBAL TRADE – presented a seminar featuring speakers Heather Litman (GDLSK), Chris Walia (Tukatech), Marquis Blanc (Krieger Worldwide).  Ilse Metchek, (CFA) moderated the panel focusing on issues impacting the industry; tariffs, containers, US Customs, and ‘nearshoring’ technology.
