Constructed with interlocking components, the ISPA Link was designed for disassembly and with the intent to use as few materials as possible.
Zero glue, two pieces and a whole lot of comfort. Spotlighting comfort, it places you directly on top of an ultrasoft foam midsole. The engineered knit upper keeps it airy and lightweight, while the bootie-like fit gives your foot a hug with every step. Get going, keep going—it’s as easy as 1, 2.
Improvise. Scavenge. Adapt. Protect. This is the philosophy at the forefront of Nike’s revolutionary ISPA initiative. Specifically crafted to overcome the urban environment’s most challenging obstacles—from weather to tough terrain—ISPA is on a mission to engineer sophisticated solutions to your everyday problems.

Design for Disassembly
The midsole is made up of pegs that fit into openings engineered into the upper. This makes for an exceptional fit that is comfortable, is stable and breathes well, according to the 40 athletes who logged some 200 hours in the prototype.
From a manufacturing standpoint, the Link is revolutionary in its simplicity. A pair of Links take about eight minutes to assemble — a fraction of the average time needed for a traditional sneaker — thanks to a custom-made manufacturing jig and the fact that the shoe doesn’t require the time-intensive gluing process to construct its midsole. Finally, the assembly of the shoe is done without the need for conventional energy-intensive processes like cooling, heating and conveyer belt systems.
