The NCS Gloss Scale offers easy specification of surface gloss for objects and environments.
The pocket-size gloss scale displays different greyscale colours in combination with different gloss levels are used to identify how light and gloss affect colours.
Thanks to the logic of the NCS System it is visually easy to identify and compare colours that are related to each other, based on NCS nuance such as blackness, whiteness, chromaticness and NCS lightness values.
NCS – Natural Colour System® is a scientifically based colour system that allows for accurate cross-industrial colour communication for designers and manufacturers, retailers and customers. Since NCS is based on how we perceive colour visually, the system allows you to describe colour on all imaginable surfaces. This has made the colour system a global standard for definition, quality assurance and communication of colour. All surface colours can be described with a NCS Notation.

Gloss Measurement
The NCS Gloss Scale is a collection of glossy samples with white, light grey, mid-grey and black colour samples that show how gloss appears at different lightness values. A useful tool when the gloss level is to be defined and specified for different surfaces and materials. The collection contains seven even gloss levels (from full matt to full gloss) for every colour on the greyscale. The tool makes it possible to compare, analyse and define gloss on any surface.
