The RAL D4 Color Atlas is the basis of the RAL DESIGN System plus and the guidebook for perfect color design.
The RAL color atlas shows all 1,825 system colors as original coating patterns. The finding of color shades is facilitated due to the arrangement of colors by the criteria hue (H), lightness (L) and chroma (C). The foundation of the RAL DESIGN system is the the CIELab color space, which is internationally used since 1976.
The measurement values of the color features HLC lead to the seven digit number of RAL DESIGN colors, for example RAL 260 30 40. The system is therefore very clearly understandable to color scientists as well as color designers. Not only is the new design of the color atlas RAL D4 appealing to everyone. Because of the large number of logically arranged colors, it is the working tool which facilitates the creation of color concepts.
